FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots re-signed exclusive rights free agent cornerback Antwain Spann today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Spann, 24, has played in eight career regular-season games and three career playoff games, all with the Patriots in 2006. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back joined the Patriots as a first-year free agent on January 19, 2006, and spent the Spring of 2006 playing in NFL Europa for the Rhein Fire. The Louisiana-Lafayette product began the 2006 regular season on the Patriots practice squad and made his NFL debut on Oct. 1 in the Patriots’ 38-13 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent two more stints on the practice squad before re-joining the active roster for the remainder of the season on Dec. 9. Spann’s career statistics include six special teams tackles in regular-season play and a pair of special teams stops in the playoffs. He was originally signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent on May 17, 2005, and was released by the Giants following their 2005 training camp.
